Disco Deewane (Hindi)

If you're feeling nostalgic, there is no better way than to pick up the re-release of the big '80s hit, Disco Deewane. It is full of cheerful disco sounds, and Nazia Hassan's teenage appeal. Rediscover Nazia and her brother Zoheb Hassan through Biddu's music. They sound fresh, although in the intervening years Biddu made similar music for Models and Alisha Chinai.

Zindagi (Hindi)

Suchitra K and Andrew Lloyd Webber (music composer of Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita fame) come together in the title song Zindagi. The tune runs along expected pop lines. Suchitra just manages to scrape through the undemanding song. The other songs are composed by Himesh Reshammiya. Of these there is not much to be said, except that R D Burman touches show up here and there. Suchitra thinks her voice is "god's gift" but it's unlikely you'll be as enthusiastic.

Dum Maro Dum Dance Mix (Hindi)

Another on the long list of remixes that the Indian music industry seems to churn out. The voices are original thank god! Remixers Mookie and Sunny Sharma add pacy beats and strong bass in Dum maro dum, O mere dil ke chain and Jawani janeman

Ek se badkar ek (Hindi)

Here's a compilation of hits from films of the late '70s and early '80s. There is Ek Duje Ke Liye (Solah baras ki bali umariya), Prem Rog (Ye goliyan ye choubara), Muqaddar ka Sikandar (Dil to hai dil), Hero (Pyar karnewale), Ram Teri Ganga Maili (Sun saiba sun) etc. That means the music of Laxmikant-Pyarelal, R D Burman, Kalyanji-Anandji, and Ravindra Jain. But the logic behind this compilation still eludes; there is no thematic, musical, or star continuity.

Cool hits of the '80s (English)

Three colourful dolphins with cool sunshades leap out of the blue, bubbly background of the inlay card. Get right back to hazy memories of the last decade with songs like Karma Chameleon (Culture Club), Too late for Goodbyes (Julian Lennon), I just died in your arms (Cutting Crew) and Keep on movin' (Soul II Soul).
